Summer Solstice Nature Viewings: Circle B Bar Reserve, Lakeland

As is our tradition, we try to view and film the first sunset of Summer Solstice. This year we did just that, at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, a short 7 miles from our home.

Also were thankful to see at least 1 alligator. In visiting the reserve for 5.5 years, it's been rare that we've not seen at least 1 gator on our visits. This time it was a medium sized one in a small marsh near Heron Hideout.

The panorama of the skies before sunset was just as wondrous as sunset itself, and was worth capturing.

Lake Ned Sunrise, Winter Haven, New Years Day, January 1, 2012

It was too irresistible to not catch the first sunrise of the new year, so I journeyed to Lake Ned on Cypress Gardens Rd in Winter Haven.

Address: 231 Lake Ned Road, Cypress Gardens, Florida

I arrived at sunrise 7:18 am and was not disappointed at the view awaiting me.

During my 45 minutes at Lake Ned, I observed Ibis

Sandhill Cranes flying overhead with their unique, beautiful trumpeting

Lake Ned has a nice setting for family picnics, BBQ's and children's recreation

If you enjoy birdlife, sunrises and sunsets or just sitting with your Honey,
Lake Ned is a nice serene location to migrate to.

If you like to recreate on the water, Lake Ned has a boat ramp at this location.

There's an activity for all ages at Lake Ned.

Lake Ned seems a suitable place for all creatures and not only humans.
There is sufficient green space for children AND dogs to play and roam
then afterwards, benches provide a nice place to sit, meditate and soak up the Polk County sun :)
